Answer / mangulusamal

In my practical knowladge motor running very slow and more humming sound come because rotor resistence is high to stater resistence ,if you have running extra more time see smoke observed.Connected links as a fuse link ,mcc, mccb, protection circuits tripped.....

What happened If 3phase supply connected to slip ring side of slipring induction motor ?..

Answer / surender kumar singh

Slipring induction is being apply in industries where speed variation is needful as in flour mills, saw ,grinding ,stone crushing etc.
In fact it's speed variation is to be achieved by changing the desired values of external resistance in rotor circuit.

Principally Motor is a rotating transformer and it will behave as an primary open circuit transformer and some volts will produce at the motor stator side.

Production of heat will be depend resistance connected in rotor circuit.
