why we use sodium salicylate in uv light calibration at TLC

Sodium salicylate has 4 double bonds in its structure.due to this conjugated double bond system,it shows clear spot at shorter wavelength(254nm)and longer wavelength(365nm) in UV cabinet calibration for TLC.
