they are maintain all data records
they maintain test cases document ,bug reporting,audit
reports,build documentions,test plan repirt,recurement
documents...... all maintained by QA people

What i think is generally V-model contains SDLC+STLC.
And parallely development is done as well as testing.
There tester has a great role in improving quality.
