How would you weigh a plane without using scales?

Answer / bart rosenberg
At least two problems with the question. 1. It does not say
airplane, just plane. A plane in space is defined by three
points, and has no weight. 2. It says "scales", implying
that at least two scales are needed. Just use one scale.
Problem solved. Listen to what they say, not what you think
they mean.

Well, if you know the thrust of the engines, and can
measure the acceleration of the aircraft, you can calculate
the mass of the plane.

If this refers to an actual airplane, use the force lift
equation: FL=CL(pv^2/2)A, where;
CL = the lift coefficient determined by the shape of the air
foil and angle of attack (can be determined by just
referring to an air foil performance curve)
p = density of air in regards to temperature (again, just
check the necessary table)
v = velocity at which the plane leaves the ground (do not
forget to convert to [ft/s] or [m/s])
A = area of the wing (chord X span)
Plug in the values and obtain FL. If you used [ft] for your
units, your answer will be in [lbf]. If you used [m], your
answer will yield [N].
To determine the mass [kg], just divide your answer in [m]
by 9.81[m/s^2]

First of all, I would ask for the specifications sheet of the aeroplane and the operation & maintenance manual. I'll take the answer from there. After all, the OEM is bound to have given it since you require the weight of the plane to design an airfield and ATC Tower

For a moving plane
1. find out the force with which gas is coming out. This is equal to the force which which plane is moving
2. find out acceleration of plan
3. use formula below.
m=f/a
weight=m*9.8
