If salary is 15000 pm
then, 15000x12 = 180000
Men - 160000- nil
160000-500000 - 10%
500000-800000 -20%
Above - 800000- 30%
180000-160000 = 20000
20000x10% = 2000
Rate of TDS is 10%

1. The above answer is absolutely right. But is only in the
case of assessee (employee in this case) is being other than
senior citizen and woman.
2. Here no other deductions or savings been furnished.
The amount subject to deduction of TDS comes to Rs. 20000/-.
But Rs. 800/- per month = 9600/- is allowed as transport
allowance. And HRA is also to be calculated according to the
information furnished by employee.
3. Savings in the form of lic, etc. also deductible from the
taxable amount.
After deducting all these above there may be no need to
deduct TDS from his/her salary.

If there are no savings , investments then the Tds Rate is
10 % +10.3% surcharge + Edu cess . If He has any savings
or others then , his Rate of Tds is Nil
