In a DG (Diesel Generator) Electrical Generator is driven by
Diesel Engine. this engine coupled with the rotor of
generator which is made of permanent magnet.
as the magnet revolves, magnetic field also revolves with
respect to stationary Stator conductor.
Due to relative motion between Stator conductor and magnetic
field voltage is developed on generator terminals.

Answer / ash
It is basically made up of Engine+Alternator.
Engine is used as Prime mover.
When alternator is rotated with the help of Engine, current
is produced.
Alternator is just the reverse of a Electric motor. When we
apply current to motor, electrical energy is converted in to
Mechanical energy.
DG converts Chemical energy in to Mechanical energy in to
electrical Energy.

I have 12MW gas engine based power plant its running parallel with grid. my problem is When cpp run in island mode(without geb) that time geb transformer power factor is 0.2 lagging. When cpp run with parallel that time power factor is 0.94 lagging So how can i maintain power factor ofgeb transformer in island mode 0.9 lagging?

I know during Surge Impedance Loading maximum power is transferred through a transmission line and also Sending end voltage becomes equal to Receiving end voltage i.e Vs=Vr so my question is if both end voltages are equal then how current travels in such line hence how power is transmitted because flow of current needs Potential difference??
